TRON LEGACY Sequel Reportedly Shooting This Fall With Joseph Kosinski Directing

I loved the look of Joseph Kosinski's TRON: Legacy, but I wasn't happy with that film's script. From a production design, costuming, and visual perspective, it was great - seemingly everything you could want from a modern TRON movie. But it was seriously lacking in the story department, and though talks of a sequel have popped up here and there since Legacy's 2010 release, the project has essentially been dead in the water for years...until now.

Badass Digest points us to a report from VanCity Buzz, a Vancouver-based site that claims that a sequel to TRON: Legacy is filming in Canada this fall. VanCity says that Garrett Hedlund will reprise his role as Sam Flynn, but he's the only cast member they mention who's returning at this time. Badass and /Film both have sources at Disney who have told them that not only is the film happening, but Kosinski is coming back to direct it.

Legacy definitely has its fans, and a sequel has a lot of potential. But I think the last film proved that there needs to be a rock solid script before anything else falls into place, and so far we don't know who's writing (or who has already written) the script for this, so I'm not ready to jump up and down about this news quite yet. I'm sure Bridges will return - he kickstarted this franchise, after all, and if he's appearing in garbage like Seventh Son, he's probably down for just about anything - and they might even be able to get Olivia Wilde back...hopefully with a much more beefed up role this time.

What do you think? Excited about TRON 3?
