Twitch Removes PS4 Playroom From Streaming Service - This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things

Games Twitch by Christian Mills

There is always a few people that ruin the fun for everyone. The latest crackdown by the fun police is on PS4 augmented reality streaming. Once the PS4 and the integrated Twitch streaming went live, players began streaming everything they could, from the games they were playing to the augmented reality game called The Playroom.

The Playroom uses the Playstation Camera to watch the room and interact with the players in it. Some people played it as designed, but some started to get creative, one couple even ran an impromptu talk show, called The Spartan Show, which netted over 200,000 viewers. Sony VP Adam Boyes even called in to talk on air! Unfortunately this couple’s clever idea has been eclipsed by the numerous strip tease and porn shows that also cropped up.

Sony and Twitch both began handing out bans as quickly as possible to try to control the rampant lewd behavior, but apparently Twitch has had enough and has pulled The Playroom from Twitch. Twitch told Game Informer the official reason for the removal was “We removed Playroom content from the directory because a majority of it was non-gaming related,”.  which is true. A strip tease would have to be rather interesting to count as being gaming related.

So, because a few people couldn't resist showing their private bits on the internet, now no one can have fun. I just hope the call-show couple finds another outlet for their popular show, because 200,000 viewers is rather incredible.
