Tyrese Gibson Campaigning To Become The New GREEN LANTERN
Looks like Tyrese Gibson is taking a cue from his Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel and is campaigning to star in a superhero movie. But while Diesel scored his role as Marvel's Groot largely due to his social media presence (and he might have another in the works if he gets his way), Gibson is more interested in heading to the DC side to put his stamp on a familiar hero.
If you take a look at his Instagram page, you'll see a bunch of photos of him dressed as Green Lantern (the character's name is John Stewart, and he was DC's first major black superhero). Many of these are reposts created by fans, but there are a few that Gibson posted himself (including the first one), so he's definitely adding fuel to this fire and trying to build some buzz and get people ready for the idea that he might be playing the part.
Warner Bros./DC are reportedly planning a Green Lantern reboot film, but that particular movie doesn't have an official release date as of yet. We have to assume, though, that the character will appear in Zack Snyder's Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2, so it makes sense that the studio execs would be having conversations right now about who would be good for the role. We all remember how the first Green Lantern film turned out, so I say let Tyrese have a shot at it. Why not?
