Video Essay Details The Differences Between THE MARTIAN Book and Movie

I've heard great things about Andy Weir's self-published novel The Martian, but I still haven't gotten around to seeing it. I saw the movie (which was fine, and I'm still a little surprised it was up for Best Picture at the Oscars last weekend), and since I have a lot on my plate and probably won't get around to reading the book any time soon, I might as well just go ahead and watch Cinefix's recent breakdown of the main differences in the story as told in its two different forms. Perhaps some of you will do the same.

The Martian has been nominated for multiple Academy Awards including Best Adapted Screenplay, and it's a surprisingly close adaption of the novel it's based on. Now it's time for us to read between the lines to find the differences between the book and the film.
