Video Reveals LA LA LAND's Classic Movie Influences

Damien Chazelle's La La Land isn't shy about showing off its influences from classic cinema, and one could argue that the film's stylistic flourishes are a big part of the reason it resonated in such a big way with the Academy; it earned 14 Oscar nominations earlier this week, tying it with All About Eve and Titanic for the most of all time. Now The Playlist points us to this wonderful video from Glass Distortion that puts shots and scenes from La La Land side by side with the classic films that inspired those moments, and it's cool to see the way Chazelle blended his homages to older films with his modern sensibilities to create something new.
