Video: Take a Trip Through Horror Movie History From 1895-2016

Horror buffs and non-horror lovers alike will probably enjoy editor Diego Carrera's thorough video that highlights some of the genre's most defining cinematic moments from 1895 all the way up until 2016. It's cool to watch the evolution of the form play out over time, and it's also interesting to see precursors to some of horror's most iconic moments appear years earlier; the shot of a guy chopping down a door with an ax from 1921's The Phantom Carriage looks like a direct inspiration for the classic scene in which Jack Nicholson chops through the door in The Shining.

1 year = 1 film. "A History of Horror" is a video essay which proposes a timeline of influential and aesthetically beautiful horror movies around the world since 1895 until 2016.
