Vin Diesel's New RIDDICK Movie Will Be An Origin Story
Last month Vin Diesel revealed that he would be developing a new Riddick movie and a TV series with his franchise director David Twohy. The only thing we really knew about the sequel up until now is that it would be called Furia. Diesel posted a video of himself with Twohy, and in that video, they reveal some new details on the movie and that it will be an origin story. Diesel says:
"Do you want to know where it all started? Where it all began with that dark character called Riddick?"
He goes on to reveal that they are looking to start shooting the sequel in early 2017. Twohy jokes that it takes the actor that long to get into character. But in reality, he is working on a ton of other projects right now including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Fast & Furious 8, The Pacifier 2, and xXx 3.
According to Twohy, the story will be a prequel that gives fans a sense of the Riddick's back story. The two couldn't agree on if the film should be rated PG-13 or an R, though.
It was also recently reported that Diesel has signed a deal with Universal TV that includes the Riddick TV series, which Diesel would produce. I've enjoyed all of the Riddick films so far, and it will be interesting to see how they tackle an origin film, especially since Diesel will be 17 years older than he was when he made Pitch Black, which came out in 2000. I'm excited to see it, though!
