Viola Davis Talks SUICIDE SQUAD and Amanda Waller
Viola Davis was the last big actor to join director David Ayer’s big screen adaptation of DC Comic’s Suicide Squad. She is set to play Amanda Waller in the film, and in a recent interview with Nerd Report she talked about the character.
Waller is a government agent who is charged with keeping a handle on a group of supervillains-turned-operatives that consists of Jared Leto as The Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevinge as Enchantress.
According to Davis, Waller is a person you wouldn’t want to piss off. Here’s what she had to say:
“I’m fascinated by her. I’m fascinated by her in this world of superhero-ness because she is not a woman that you would expect. I think that she is a massive contradiction.
“She’s this big powerful black woman, hard, ready to pick up a gun and shoot anyone at will. I’m fascinated in exploring her psychology, just put it that way. And I’m excited to pick up a gun.”
It still kind of amazes me that WB was able to bring together such an incredible cast to be in the movie. I’m a fan of everyone involved with the project, and out of all of the DC movies going into development, this might just be the one I’m most excited about.
Suicide Squad will open on August 5th, 2016.
