Vulture Will Reportedly Be One of The Villains in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING
Yesterday at CinemaCon, Sony officially announced Spider-Man: Homecoming as the title of its new Spider-Man solo film that's a co-production with Marvel Studios, and now it appears that we know at least one of the villains who will show up in that film.
Birth.Movies.Death spoke with a source and found out that as of now, the Vulture will appear in the film as a villain. Previous rumors indicated that the character wouldn't be the movie's main bad guy, but the site is unsure about the validity of those whispers at this point. So basically all we know is that the Vulture is going to be in it — we're not sure about the age of the character (he's traditionally been pretty old in the comics) or who's playing him (John Malkovich was supposed to play him in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4 before that fell apart).
The Vulture, for those who don't know, is Adrian Toomes, an engineer who creates an electromagnetic harness that allows the wearer to fly like a bird. But when his business partner steals his share of the company, he's driven mad and creates the Vulture identity to enact his revenge. He later becomes a part of the Sinister Six. It should be interesting to see if they cast an older man in this role, or if they go with someone younger to be closer to new Spidey Tom Holland's age.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
