Watch: ARCHER Perfectly Recreates MAGNUM P.I. Intro, Teases Direction of Season 7

The FX animated series Archer has long been known to pay loving tribute to a bunch of different pop culture properties, from Top Gun to Gator to Miami Vice and much more. (Seriously, this show's references are off the charts.) But its latest homage might be the most direct thing they've done so far: in a new video promoting the upcoming seventh season of the show, creator Adam Reed and his animators have perfectly recreated the introduction of the popular TV show Magnum, P.I., replacing Tom Selleck and his supporting cast with Sterling Archer and his group of misfit idiot companions. Check it out below:

If you were thinking, "Well, that's cool, but what does it mean for the future of the show?", well, it actually means a great deal. In a new interview with Uproxx, Archer executive producer Matt Thompson revealed that the new season of the show will involve the characters moving from New York to Los Angeles and opening the Figgis Detective Agency (the nerdy Cyril is the only one who is legally allowed to open his own agency) in order to try to make money following the events of the season 6 finale. The whole interview is a great read, and will give you a nice indication of what's in store for the upcoming season.

Archer returns to TV on March 31st.
