Watch: Chris Evans Aced CIVIL WAR's Fight Scenes

The home video release of Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War is just around the corner (it hits shelves on September 13th), and we're slowly starting to see some highlights from the film's bonus features. This morning, we saw a clip from the film's gag reel, and now Mashable has shared a cool behind-the-scenes look at the training and preparation that went into the movie's hand-to-hand fight sequences.

Co-director Anthony Russo told the site that star Chris Evans took to these fight scenes especially well:

"He's a crazy quick study. Insanely fast. There are fights we've pre-blocked on the set that are really complicated that he gets in one or two takes...He's a very good athlete, a very gifted technical actor, and he's great with body movement and great with body control."

It's becoming more and more common to digitally insert an actor's face over the top of a stunt double's to try to convince the audience that the actor is actually doing the fight scenes, and while the technology has certainly improved by leaps and bounds, those who are really looking for it can often still tell when that technique is being employed. As the video shows, it's always better to use the real actor in scenes like that if possible, as long as safety measures are taken, because it adds a lot to the reality of the performance.
