Watch Nick Offerman Drink Whisky in Silence By a Fireplace For 45 Minutes

Yes, this video is exactly what you think it is. Nick Offerman, whose Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson was a big fan of Lagavulin whisky, sits silently on a leather chair and sips a couple of glasses of it while a fire crackles in the background. There's something peaceful and almost profound about it — it's obviously an advertisement, but there's a real power in silence, and Offerman's stare pierces right into your soul. That's the beauty of this — they don't actually have to say a word, because the silence and sheer length of the video allows the viewer to reflect and come to his or her own conclusion about what they're doing with their time. Me? I'm going to go get a glass of scotch right now.

If you're wondering why I wrote about this, the reason is twofold. First, I'm a big fan of Offerman, found this genuinely amusing, and figured some of you might as well. And second, I wanted to give a shout-out to Offerman's current TV series, Fargo, the second season of which (airing now on FX) is one of the best things I've seen in TV in a good while. I highly recommend catching up with it if you haven't seen it yet. It's cinematic, mesmerizing stuff that stands toe to toe with the best shows in the current Golden Age of Television.

Enjoy 45 minutes of uninterrupted Lagavulin™ Single Malt Scotch Whisky-drinking bliss with Nick Offerman by the Yule Log Fireplace... and you don't even need to exchange words.

The video above is actually the second video Offerman has done for the company. Here's the first:

What happens when you try to pull a fast one on a Lagavulin lover. (Hint: it makes your friend who sent back that bottle of Chateaux Whatever because it might be corked look like a lazy amateur.)
