WHIPLASH Helmer May Direct Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in LA LA LAND

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone might be teaming up again to star in a film called La La Land, which is coming from Whiplash director Damien Chazelle. Whiplash was such an insanely good film, and I’ve been waiting to see what Chazelle’s next film would be.

According to Deadline, the two actors are circling the lead roles in the film, but no deal has been made yet. All parties are trying to make it happen, though. These are two great actors who have worked together in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad

If they do join the project, it might be the best one that they’ve made together. La La Land is an original project that Chazelle wrote before he did Whiplash. It’s described as “an old fashioned musical set in contemporary Los Angeles and centers on a love story between a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress.”

Miles Teller and Emma Watson were originally attached to the project, but then they got busy doing other movies. Gosling and Stone seem to make a better team-up, though, especially for the story Chazelle is looking to tell.

Gosling has a few projects that he’s attached to, such as Adam McKay’s The Big Short, opposite Christian Bale and Brad Pitt; Terrence Malick’s Weightless; and Shane Black’s The Nice Guys, opposite Russell Crowe. Gosling is also in talks to join Guillermo del Toro’s The Haunted Mansion. and was most recently cast in Blade Runner 2.
