Will Kraven The Hunter Be The Villain in SPIDER-MAN Reboot?

Shortly after Tom Holland was cast as the new Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Marvel Studio's president Kevin Feige said that the standalone Spider-Man movie would feature a villain that has never graced the big screen before

"He’s got an amazing Rogue’s Gallery and bench and we’re honing in on who will get the call to be in that standalone movie.”

So who out of all the villainous characters in the Spider-Man universe will they use? According to the inside sources of Heroic Hollywood, one of the villains might be Kraven the Hunter.

The rumor started when Karen Moy, the Vice President of Creative Affairs over at Sony (who has run the story department there for almost twenty years), bought herself a copy of Kraven's Last Hunt trade paperback last week. That is after John Francis Daly and Jonathan Goldstein were hired to write the film. Apparently Marvel makes the Sony studio executives buy their own comics. HH's Umberto Gonzalez went out of his way to do research to make sure that was really the case.

So when the head of the story department starts buying up comic books, you know it's for research purposes. Even if Kraven won't be the villain, it's safe to assume that Sony and Marvel might at least be considering using him.

Kraven's Last stand was written by J. M. DeMatteis, first published in 1897, and it was voted the greatest Spider-Man story ever told by the readers over at Comic Book Resources. It tells the story of Spider-Man's final battle with Kraven The Hunter. It's obviously a must-read for any Spider-Man fan.

Kraven the Hunter has stalked and killed every animal known to man. But there is one beast that has eluded him. One quarry that has mocked him at every turn: the wall-crawling web-slinger known as Spider-Man. And to prove that he is the hero's master, he will pull on his costume and become him... after he shoots and buries him six feet under!

It would be very interesting if this is they direction they actually went with the next Spider-Man film. I think Kraven the Hunter aka Sergei Kravinoff would make a great villain. He's the world's biggest big game hunter, and killing Spider-Man would be his greatest challenge. The guy is a hardcore badass, who doesn't use weapons to hunt. He has superhuman strength and enhanced senses to help him take down his prey with his bare hands.

I know this is only a rumor, but it's this kind of thing that makes great discussion for fans! So what do you all think about the possibility of seeing Kraven as Spider-Man's villain?
