Will Orlando Bloom Return for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

In case you forgot, yes… Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is still happening. It's called Pirates of the Caribbean movie - Dead Men Tell No Tales, and Johnny Depp is already set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Now it looks like he may be joined by Orlando Bloom, who played William Turner in the franchise. Bloom starred in the the first three installments of the Disney franchise, but wasn’t a part of the fourth movie, On Stranger Tides.

Over the weekend at Oz Comic Con, the actor was asked if he would be in the next movie, and he said, "There have certainly been some discussions about it and I’m open to it."

It's not clear if he's in active negotiations to return, but if there's a place for him in the story, then they'll bring him on if they need to. He went on to talk about his experience working on the first three movies saying,

"That whole experience working with Johnny (Depp) and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity (to be in the first Pirates) was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift."

Lord of the Rings put Bloom on the map, and he was a very successful actor when he was making these Pirates films. He has since worked with Peter Jackson on the Hobbit films, but outside of these franchises the actor hasn't made many other movies that hit big. I wonder if it's because he has been typecast.

Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are directing the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and it's scheduled for release on July 7th, 2017.
