Will Tilda Swinton Play a Male or Female Version of The Ancient One in DOCTOR STRANGE?
Marvel made a very different and surprising choice when casting Tilda Swinton in the role of The Ancient One in Doctor Strange. I was already interested in seeing how the character would be portrayed in director Scott Derrickson's film, but now I'm even more intrigued because it seems like she could either play the character as a male or female.
The Guardian recently conducted an interview with the actress, and the site concluded the report with the following statement:
"She will soon start shooting a Marvel blockbuster, Doctor Strange, but there is a Swinton-esque twist – she doesn’t yet know if she will play the part as a man or a woman."
This wouldn't be the first time that Swinton would play a male role. She played the angel Gabriel in the big screen adaptation of Constantine. But, with The Ancient One being The Ancient One, there is a strong possibility that the character won't be defined by gender at all.
Who knows what Marvel has up their sleeve, but I'm confident that they're going to give the fans something spectacular. The movie will be released on November 4th, 2016, and Benedict Cumberbatch is taking on the title role.
