WONDER WOMAN Solo Film to be Set in the 1920s?

We've been bombarded by a ton of awesome Marvel news over the last few days, how about we throw some DC superhero movie news into the mix? Warner Bros. announced that they plan on releasing a solo Wonder Woman flick in 2017, and we know that it will star Gal Gadot, who is set to play the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. They didn't offer any other information on the project, but Bleeding Cool claims to know a little bit about what the studio is planning. This is all a rumor for now, but the intel comes from a reliable site.

The site's source claims to have seen the story treatment for the film, and according to them, the first half of the film will be set on Paradise Island with warring Amazon factions vying for control. The report goes on to explain,

"An arrival of a man on the island changes that status quo, as he asks the Amazons for help. Not necessarily Steve Trevor either…

"Because when Wonder Woman joins him on his return to the world of Man, we all discover that it is the 1920s. And the film will then show Diana exploring that world – a world where women have only just got the vote – from her… unique perspective."

A Wonder Woman film set in the 1920s? I'm down with that concept. I love period films, which is one of the reasons why I loved Captain America: The First Avenger so much. A 1920s Wonder Woman could be incredibly cool.

The site then claims that there's also a planned sequel that is supposed to take place during World War II in the 1930s and 1940s. This is the same time period that the seventies Wonder Woman TV show was set in before making the shift to modern day.

That's not all! There will also be a third film that would finally take place in modern day, when she is a part of the Justice League superhero team. If this is all true, I actually kind of like where they are going with this.

I love the period settings for the character, but it might get a little confusing with the timeline. Especially since the first Wonder Woman solo film is being released the same year as the first Justice League movie. So they start to build the momentum of their cinematic universe with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, then they release Suicide Squad. After that they jump back to the 1920s before fast forwarding to the present day Justice League team.

They've got a little smoothing out to do with all of this stuff, but I'm sure they are going to figure it all out. What do you all think about the rumored plan to bring Wonder Woman to the big screen?
