X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Featurette: Meet The Four Horsemen

As someone who thought X-Men: Days of Future Past was an extremely enjoyable piece of summer entertainment, I'm still a little concerned about the prospects of X-Men: Apocalypse. Everything I've seen so far indicates that Bryan Singer and the film's writers are trying to up the ante in a major way, but they may have gone too far — the whole film just looks like a whirling mass of destruction and debris, and I don't know about you, but I'm getting a little tired of superhero films with the "bigger is better" mentality. It's OK to take it down a notch and make things more character-centric, you know? Not everything needs to be about the end of the world. (As much as I wasn't crazy about Deadpool, at least that movie knew this to be true.) I wish they had gone a different direction with the story, but as soon as they brought Apocalypse into the picture, it pretty much guaranteed massive amounts of destruction. We'll see if Singer and company can sustain the highs of Days of Future Past or if they'll get bogged down in their own chaos, but in the meantime, check out this new featurette that concentrates on the villain's four horsemen.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 27, 2016.
