X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Screenwriter on Possible FANTASTIC FOUR Crossovers
Recently I wrote about Hugh Jackman’s interest in bringing his Wolverine to the Avengers. Apparently, the word is getting around. In an interview with THR, screenwriter Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Fantastic Four reboot) said that he “would love to see” an X-Men/Avengers crossover. He goes on to say:
"In the world of Marvel Studios and everything they're doing that we've been inspired by, anything is possible.
"I would say purely as a fan of comics and these film franchises I would love to see it, but it has challenges."
He also went on to talk about a possible crossover between X-Men and The Fantastic Four. Here is what he had to say about the hurdles he would have to jump to accomplish this:
"The Fantastic Four live in a world where they are fantastic because they are the only people who have super powers. If they were to live in a world full of mutants they would kind of just be four more mutants," he says. "In the X-Men movies, we have never acknowledged a public team of superheroes called the Fantastic Four who live in New York City, even though Charles' mansion is in Westchester not so far form the city."
I am not a screenwriter, but I would figure that it would be easy to introduce a shared world between the Fantastic Four and the X-Men when you reboot Fantastic Four. Then again, I also feel that Marvel should be sole owner of these franchises, but no one asks me.
