Xbox Sci-Fi Series HUMANS Lands on AMC

AMC will be picking up the domestic rights to  Xbox's sci-fi drama series Humans. Xbox committed to an eight-episode first season for the show, which is being written by the British writing team of Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (Spooks).

Humans is an English-language adaptation of the Sveriges Television and Matador Films series Real Humans. The story is set in "a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a 'synth' — a highly developed robotic servant eerily similar to its live counterpart. In the hope of transforming the way they live, one strained suburban family purchases a refurbished synth only to discover that sharing life with a machine has far-reaching and chilling consequences."

AMC jumped in on the show after Microsoft opted to shut down Xbox Entertainment Studios, which is its original programming studio. That decision left original series like Humans and the Steven Spielberg-produced live-action Halo series in the sway. So AMC is going to help keep this Humans series going, and they will be casting for it soon. As far as Halo goes, apparently it's still being developed.

Xbox is now shopping its entertainment studio around to find a new home, and according to the report from THR, Warner Bros. could potentially be it.
