Young Nightcrawler Cast in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
Director Bryan Singer has announced that Kodi Smit-McPhee (ParaNorman, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) has officially been cast as a young version of the mutant Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Smit-McPhee is a talented young actor who seems like he would do a fantastic job in the role. He will join James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, and Nicholas Hoult who are set to reprise their roles in the film, as well as newcomers Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, and Tye Sheridan, who will be playing young versions of Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops. Oscar Isaac will be taking on the role of the villain Apocalypse.
Nightcrawler was created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum and made his first comic book appearance in 1975 in Giant Size X-Men #1. Alan Cumming previously played an older version of Nightcrawler in Singer's X2, and he was awesome.
X-Men: Apocalypse is being written by Simon Kinberg from a treatment by Mike Dougherty, Dan Harris, and Simon Kinberg. The movie hits theaters on May 27th, 2016.
