Zac Efron Drops The Beat in WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS Trailer

Do you enjoy the subplots in the Pitch Perfect movies about Anna Kendrick's character trying to make it as a record producer? You know, with all of those shots of her sitting at a laptop, wearing headphones, nodding her head to the beat, and trying to find her sound? Then you'll probably love We Are Your Friends, a new film starring Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski (Gone Girl, the Blurred Lines music video). Warner Bros. has just dropped the first trailer, and it seems like the Millennial version of the rags-to-riches musician story, the result of throwing The Social Network and Magic Mike into a blender with an iPod full of EDM music. The movie hits theaters on August 28th. Check out the trailer and description below:

“We Are Your Friends” is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Ratajkowski). With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.
