007: FIRST LIGHT Delayed to May 2026 as IO Interactive Promises a More Polished Bond Experience
Fans eager to step into the tux may need to exercise a little more patience. 007: First Light has officially been delayed by two months, with developer IO Interactive pushing the release to May 27, 2026.
The studio says the decision comes down to one thing: giving its ambitious James Bond game the extra polish it deserves.
The update came via Bluesky, where the Hitman developer addressed the delay head-on. According to the studio, this project is on a larger scale than anything it’s attempted before, and that scope demands more time.
"007: First Light is our most ambitious project to date," the studio said," and the team has been fully focused on delivering an unforgettable James Bond experience, bringing together breathtaking action, globe-trotting, spycraft, gadgets, car chases, and more.
“As an independent developer and publisher, this decision allows us to ensure the experience meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one."
007: First Light is a third-person action adventure that aims to capture the full fantasy of being James Bond, blending cinematic set pieces with stealth, gadgets, and high-speed pursuits across exotic locations. IO Interactive also reassured fans that development is in a healthy place.
The studio added that "the game is progressing well and is playable from beginning to end," but simply needs a little more time in the oven.
Waiting an extra eight weeks isn’t really a big deal, and if tthe extra development time sharpens the experience and delivers the definitive Bond game fans have been waiting for, awesome!
