Kevin Bacon Cast as Villain in SUPER
Kevin Bacon has just joined Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, and Liv Tyler in a new superhero comedy film called, Super. We reported on this film when it was first announced in September. The film was written by and will be directed by James Gunn (Slither).
Super centers on an average guy(Wilson) who takes on the pseudo-superhero alter ego of the Crimson Bolt, after watching his wife (Tyler) fall under the spell of a charming drug dealer. Lacking super powers, he compensates by swinging a trusty wrench.
The movie sounds like it has promise of being a pretty funny film. Bacon will play Jacques, a smooth-talking drug dealer who steals the wife Wilson's character, causing the him to become The Crimson Bolt. Gunn had this to say regarding the newest member of the cast.
Kevin Bacon is one of the few actors nimble enough to give life to Jacques, our supervillain with a nice streak. We need to love Jacques even while he’s doing horrible things – Kevin is one of the only actors I know who can pull that off.
Not only will this movie be funny but apparently it's going to be pretty violent as well. The producer of the movie Ted Hope has a twitter account in which he tweeted some entertaining little comments regarding the film shoot.
I think SUPER will take my % of films w/ guns finally above 5 (4th) but will be only 2nd w gore & flesh bits. LOVE GOD was #1.
Nothing like having a 15min conversation about blood color & consistency with 8 people. I should have made gore flicks far more often!
Mega-violent day today with plenty of stunts, broken glass, falling bricks, & crashing wheelchairs. Just another day at the office…
Favorite moment of dailies today? after the squibs workd perfectly, @james_gunn screamd in ecstasy: “fuck, yeah!”. Happy for the splatter.
I would love to see this movie turn out to be something great. It sounds like it's got all the right ingredients to be a success. We all know Kevin Bacon can play a great villain as well. It will be fun to see how this cast does.
What do you all think?
