Much like what Disney has planned for the release of Tron Legacy, the studio has announced that their upcoming action adventure film, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, will get a simultaneous IMAX release.
The May 28th wide release of the Mike Newell-directed and Jerry Bruckheimer-produced adaptation of the Prince of Persia video game, now includes slots in international IMAX theaters. But unlike Tron Legacy, it won't have scenes rendered specifically for IMAX's extended aspect ratio, and it won't be in 3D... a little late for the 3D conversion I guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
I definitely don't mind spending the extra dough for the IMAX experience, even if it is for one of the smaller "LieMAX" screens. The quality of the sound and picture is so much more immersive! When I went and saw Alice In Wonderland, the crowd literally booed the Legend of The Guardians trailer because it was preceded by a disclaimer that "this trailer is has not been formatted for IMAX, and is not the IMAX Experience."
What better way to watch a huge Bruckheimer film than on a huge IMAX screen?
The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, and Gemma Arterton. To watch the newest trailer Click Here.
The official release is underneath, and sound off in the rant back section on whether or not you care to see Prince of Persia in IMAX.
