Movie Derrick Comedy by Eli Reyes

The Derrick Comedy troupe will be appearing at Los Angeles screenings of their uproarious feature debut, Mystery Team. James Cameron can keep pushing the technology of 3D, but Derrick Comedy can bring the Mystery Team experience into the fourth dimension by appearing live. If you live in the LA area, you can catch Mystery Team in 4D at Landmark's Nuart Theatre, where the Derrick Comedy troupe will be appearing in person at all of the evening screenings through Thursday.

You can Purchase Tickets Here, there are 5:00, 7:30 and 10:00 showings of the film.

Our friends at /Film tell us that those who have seen the movie twice, will be given special “Team LA Heroes” membership cards signed by all five members of Derrick Comedy.

In Mystery Team, director Dan Eckman, producer Meggie McFadden and writers/actors D.C. Pierson, Donald Glover and Dominic Dierkes put a real world spin on the Encyclopedia Brown type Kid-Detective Stories. Mystery Team is a well honed piece of comedic gold, that lends itself to repeat viewings with your friends, loved ones, and enemies.

The film was a festival highlight for Venkman when it premiered at Sundance 2009 (Read Review Here). Me and the rest of the GeekTyrant crew got a chance to see Mystery Team at Comic-Con (Watch Interview Here), and were absolutely floored by how smart and gut bustingly inappropriate the movie was.

Unfortunately, the film’s distributor, Roadside Attractions, has fumbled the promotion of the film. It's a shame, but not hard to believe with Roadside handling The Cove in a similar fashion, even with the film walking away with an Academy Award for best documentary.

I highly recommend watching Mystery Team, and bring some friends! We've talked this film up for over a year now, and have heard nothing but good things from those who have seen it off of our recommendation.

If you're looking for familiar faces to bank your buck on, since completing Mystery Team, NBC has been all over the cast of the film. Donald Glover has gone on to star in the hit sitcom Community --  the rest of the Derrick Comedy troupe have also made cameo appearances on the show; Bobby Moynihan has become a featured cast member of a little show called Saturday Night Live; and you may know Ellie Kemper now as Erin, on The Office.
