Chris Pine, Shia LaBeouf, Alex Pettyfer could all be Cast in PREACHER

I Am Number Four director D.J. Caruso is currently attached to direct the feature film adaptation of the comic book Preacher, and there hasn't been much new news since he announced his involvement. But, In a recent interview he revealed a few actors that he would like to cast in the film. I guess this woould be his dream team for the movie. He say's that he wants Chris Pine (Star Trek) in the role of Jesse Custer, Shia LaBeouf is interested in playing Arsface, and Alex Pettyfer would play the Saint of Killers.

None of this casting is official as of right now, but it gives you an idea of what Caruso has in mind for this adaptation. Personally the film could do without Pettyfer and LaBeouf, but they are the most likely to be cast since they both have working relationships with the director. He will direct the film from a script written by John August (Big Fish), and according to producer Neil Moretz this will be the first in a series of Preacher films, and they want it to be rated 'R'.

Preacher was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, and tells the story of Texas reverend Jesse Custer who, after merging with the escaped offspring of a demon and an angel, find himself imbued with the word of God, the power to command anyone to do his bidding. Teamed with his ex girlfriend, Tulip O'Hare and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, Custer sets out across America to track down the almighty and force him to explain why he abandoned creation.

In a previous interview Moretz had this to say about the script,

We’ve got a great script. John August wrote a script that I think is terrific. The hardest thing was with all the books-the Preacher books-was how to distill it down.  And what he made the smart decision instead of trying to cram everything into one, there’s plenty of room for 2 or 3 movies. So that’s what he’s done and he’s done a really faithful adaption but made it probably more accessible to a broader audience right now. That movie’s definitely R-rated and it’s an amazing central character.

What are your thoughts on the actors Caruso wants to cast in the movie?
