Joseph Kosinski Talks about the Plot of TRON 3
With Tron: Legacy out on DVD and Blu-ray, director Joseph Kosinski has been making the press rounds. We've already heard a few things about Tron 3. The director is currently constructing the film for Disney with the original Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. Legacy brought in $400 million dollars, so it's no surprise that there will most likely be a sequel. We've also had a couple cool viral videos connecting Tron: Legacy to Tron 3.
In a recently interview Kosinski he confirmed a lot of the information about and then went on to talk about where they are in the process, and where the story for the film will go.
Once we get a script we’re all really happy with, we’ll take it to the powers that be and see if we can go back to the grid... I think we will pick with where TRON: LEGACY left off with Quorra in the real world and what does that mean and the possibilities it opens up for the next chapter. It’s that relationship between the two of them that’s the next step.
He then went on to talk about Cillian Murphy's character Ed Dillinger, which we always specualted would play a much bigger role in the sequel.
Dillinger was a really important part of the first film and felt like an easy way to continue that storyline and thread to have his son in the new movie. That way you have people ask those questions of what the Dillinger legacy is in the world of TRON. We didn’t want to ignore it completely and it leaves a really nice springboard for some intertwining development for the next film.
There's not a lot of new information here, we kind of knew that this is where Tron 3 was going already, but it's still cool to hear it from the guy who is going to actually bring it to life. I really hope the script for this next film is a lot better though.
