New Las Vegas Comedy to be Directed by Jon Turtletaub - LAST VEGAS

Movie by Joey Paur

National Treasure director Jon Turletaub is set to direct a new Las Vegas based comedy called Last Vegas. The movie was announced in August of last year when CBS Films bought the pitch from screenwriter Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love) for $1 million bucks. The pitch came after the The Hangover became a huge comedy success. The movie is finally moving forward, and it sounds like it's going to be an old man version of The Hangover.

The story follows four semi-retired baby boomers who head to Las Vegas for a bachelor party when the last of the Coney Island buddies, a successful lawyer, and ladies man in his 60s, decides to tie the knot to a woman half his age. I'm sure they will have a crazy little Vegas adventure.

There was a rumor earlier this year that Jack Nicholson was offered a role in the film, but there's been no update or confirmation that he's even involved. I assume if he is cast he will play the old playboy in the story.

This is a change of pace for Turtletaub who most recently directed Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice, some of his other films include Instict, Cool Runnings, Phenomenon and 3 Ninjas. I guess all we can hope for at this point is that it will be funny.

What are your thoughts on this new Vegas comedy?
