A New STAR WARS Series Based Mara Jade Rumored to Be in the Works
For years, Star Wars fans have been wondering if we’d ever see the live-action debut of Mara Jade, one of the franchise's fan-favorite Legends characters.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, the studio might be developing a Star Wars TV series centered around Mara Jade. While details are scarce, it’s safe to assume that much of her history with Luke Skywalker will be altered, especially since their marriage is no longer canon thanks to the sequel trilogy.
However, that doesn’t mean her story as the Emperor’s Hand couldn’t still be adapted in a fresh and interesting way.
Mara Jade first appeared in Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire trilogy, where she was introduced as Emperor Palpatine’s secret assassin. Under his command, she infiltrated Jabba the Hutt’s palace, tasked with eliminating Luke Skywalker.
But when she failed to reach him before the events of Return of the Jedi, her life fell apart. She blamed Luke for the fall of the Empire and loosing everything and spent years hunting him, only to eventually break free of Palpatine’s influence and embrace the Jedi path herself.
Of course, her original story gets even wilder as she ultimately kills a clone of Luke to silence Palpatine’s lingering hold on her mind. But the core of her character, a fierce and complex warrior who is shaped by her dark past, is what makes Mara so intriguing.
It’s also rumored that Zendayais reportedly being "considered" for a Star Wars role, though it’s unclear if it's for Mara Jade.
Mara Jade’s arrival in live-action would be pretty cool if they can come up with a great way to retell her story. It’s just a matter of where and how she will show up an be utilized.
With Dave Filoni's upcoming Star Wars film rumored to be titled Heir to the Empire, it’s possible she could factor into that story. But, who knows!?
These are all just rumors that hold no real weight, but at the same time it is fun to talk about and discuss.
