A Sequel To Russell Crowe's THE POPE'S EXORCIST is in Early Development
The recently released demonic possession horror film The Pope’s Exorcist is getting a sequel, and according to Bloody-Disgusting, that sequel is already in early development. Russell Crowe plays real-life exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth in the movie, a priest who worked for the Vatican and performed several exorcisms during his lifetime.
The film is inspired by the actual files of Father Gabriele Amorth, who wrote two memoirs, An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories, where he talked about his experiences battling Satan and demons.
I actually enjoyed the movie! I thought it was a surprisingly fun horror movie. I didn’t expect to be as entertained as I was.
This film follows Amorth as he investigates a young boy’s terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy the Vatican has desperately tried to keep hidden. While the film is inspired by real events, the movie definitely took things to a very big over-the-top level that 100% was not true.
There are no details on what the story for the sequel will entail, but the end of the first film definitely set up a franchise that can keep going as long as people keep watching the movie. What we do know for sure is that any sequels will see Father Gabriele Amorth and his partner embark on dangerous and terrifying missions to battle demonic possessions.
