A Sequel to the Football Series BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE Being Shopped Around with Alan Ritchson
The 2010 cult college football series Blue Mountain State may be making a comeback with a sequel series. The project is currently being shopped around and Reacher star Alan Ritchson is set to reprise his role as Kevin “Thad” Castle. The original series’ co-leads Darin Brooks and Chris Romano also are expected to reprise their roles.
The project is set up at Lionsgate TV, and it’s explained the show could land at Amazon, where Ritchson stars in the hit series Reacher. Netflix is also on the table because that’s where Blue Mountain State found new audience following its original three-season run on Spike TV.
The series was created by Chris Romano and Eric Falconer, who will be back to develop the sequel. There was also a follow-up film that was released in 2016 that was funded by a Kickstarter campaign. The sequel was titled Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland.
Blue Mountain State is about a fictitious university and its football team, the Mountain Goats. The story centers on three incoming freshman played by Brooks, Ritchson and Romano, “who must quickly adapt to college life and juggle football, girls, classes and nonstop hazing. Ritchson’s Kevin ‘Thad’ Castle was the ever-inspiring team captain of the BMS football team.”
I’ve never watched this Blue Mountain State series, so I think I’ll give it a go!
