REACHER Star Alan Ritchson Would Love to Play Batman in the DCU
Reacher star Alan Ritchson has been fan-favorite pick for an actor to take on the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Cinematic Universe. Now the actor is saying that he would love to opportunity to step into the boots of this iconic hero. During a recent interview on Post Cred Podcast, he said:
"The fact that people are interested in me playing Batman is a real honor and privilege. It's one of the first characters I fell in love with as a child: I still remember the big, long pistol coming out of Joker's pants as he goes to shoot down the Batplane.
"Those iconic moments really resonated with me as a child. For there to even be a conversation or a rumor mill surrounding this role, for me… all I can do is laugh. I just think it’s wild that’s where we are. I would love to. I would absolutely love to [play him]."
I like Ritchson! He’s awesome in the role of Jack Reacher, and I’d actually be down to see him as Batman! The dude wouldn’t need a padded suit, that’s for sure.
Gunn will introduce his version of Batman in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. which is being directed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti. The project is inspired by Grant Morrison's popular Batman comics run, and it will focus on Bruce Wayne's relationship with his biological son, Damian Wayne.
When previously talking about this project, Gunn said: “So this is the introduction of the DCU Batman, Bruce Wayne, and also introducing our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch, assassin murderer, who he unwittingly takes on, who's Batman's actual son that he doesn't know exists for the first eight to 10 years of his life, and he brings into his life and this is a story. It's a very strange sort of father son story about the two of them. And it's based on Grant Morrison's run on the Batman. There's a couple of comic book writers that have been exceptionally influential on our stuff and Grant Morrison and Tom King are probably the two primary ones.”
Do you think Alan Ritchson would be a good choice for the role of Batman?
