Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart Will Reportedly Get His Classic Green Lantern Suit in MAN OF TOMORROW
John Stewart may finally be getting his Green Lantern suit, and fans might not have to wait until Man of Tomorrow to see Aaron Pierre wearing it.
Pierre is set to reprise his Lanterns role as John Stewart in Man of Tomorrow, James Gunn’s upcoming Superman sequel. A new rumor claims his DCU costume will pull heavily from John’s classic comic book look, with the possibility that it could first appear in the Lanterns season finale.
The rumor comes from @JuanEditzs, who has previously shared accurate details about the DCU. According to the scooper, John’s Man of Tomorrow Green Lantern suit looks a lot like his “classic design” from the comics. He’s also reportedly heard it described as the “best suit in MOT.”
John has yet to fully suit up in Lanterns, but with the season finale arriving this coming Sunday, it would make sense for the series to finally give us that payoff. There have also been rumors that the costume appearing in the finale could be the same Green Lantern look Pierre will wear in Man of Tomorrow.
Nothing on that front has been officially confirmed, so we’ll have to see what the finale delivers. Either way, John Stewart making the jump from Lanterns to the big screen gives Gunn an opportunity to connect the two DCU projects in a pretty cool way.
Pierre recently talked about where John and Hal Jordan’s relationship is heading as Lanterns approaches its conclusion. While he understandably avoided spoiling what happens, he did offer some insight into how John ultimately views Hal.
“I won’t reveal the end, but once we get very near to the end, at least, he has this immense respect and appreciation for Hal, and if if nothing else, I think even Hal knows that he could trust John with his life, and John knows that he could trust Hal with his.”
Pierre went on to explain that their relationship develops into something more complicated than simply liking or disliking one another.
“You don’t always need to love each other for that to be a truth, and I think that’s something that this series explores. But interestingly enough, speaking on that love element, I think that there is a very there’s a very sincere respect and and a mutual brotherly love there between the two of them,” Pierre continued.
“I think a truth that John understood at a certain point in the series [is that] he’s never gonna fully know Hal, but what he can do is understand who Hal is fundamentally at his core, at least. He may never understand all of the nuances of who this individual is, but he can discover who this man is at his core.
“And once that curiosity was satisfied, I think he was very at peace with everything that the two of them had been through — the highs, the lows, the inbetweens, the moments that felt like purgatory. I think he just he just finds peace with it, because he knows who this individual is at his core, no matter what decoration or nuances surround it.”
With Lanterns nearing its finale and John already lined up for Man of Tomorrow, Pierre’s Green Lantern is clearly becoming an important part of the larger DCU.
Now we just need to see the guy in the suit!
