Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played Quicksilver in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, is set to take on the lead role of Sony Picture’s upcoming Marvel project Kraven The Hunter! That’s certainly an unexpected choice, but it’s not the first time one actor has played two different Marvel characters.

Taylor-Johnson is a talented actor, and I’ve enjoyed the characters he’s played over the years. While it’s an unexpected choice, I like it! I’m a huge fan of this Marvel villain. I’ve just always enjoyed how dark, sinister, and badass he is. I love how in the comics he’s out for Spider-Man head for his trophy wall.

In a previously released casting description, Kraven The Hunter is described as being of Russian origin, with "superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes." It goes on to say that this "maniacal big-game hunter seeks to defeat Spider-Man to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world." He’s also described as a "Bourne-like bounty hunter.”

J.C. Chandor (Triple Frontier) is set to direct from a script written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man). The initial draft of the script was written by Richard Wenk. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the film. I hope that this creative team actually captures the insanity and awesomeness of this villainous character.

Kraven the Hunter is set for release on January 13th, 2023. What do you think about Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing Kraven The Hunter?
