Actor Joe Morton Offers Details on DC Entertainment's CYBORG Movie

Since Justice League was released, Warner Bros. has changed a lot of things up at DC Entertainment and there's no doubt that the future of the DC film franchise is still being discussed and planned. Last month the studio revealed an updated slate of DC films and that slate did not include the previously announced Cyborg. However, according to actor Joe Morton, who plays the father of Cyborg (Ray Fisher) in Justice League, there will be a Cyborg film and he offers up some details on the story. While talking to ET, he said:

"From what I understand, there will be a Cyborg movie. It will be about him and I, and about the family that he came from, how he becomes the Cyborg, et cetera, But from whence he came, as well….I think it’s very exciting I think it’s exciting because there aren’t that many, if any, black superheros, and in his case in particular, because there is no alias, because there is nothing for him to hide behind, and that he has to be who he is all the time. I think it’s a great kind of allegory for what it means to be black in this country."

So it sounds like this is going to be a prequel film that offers fans an origin story. I guess that's not really surprising. They gave Wonder Woman a prequel film, so why not Cyborg? I guess the story could also jump back and forth between the past and the present. We'll just have to wait and see.

The film was originally set to be released in 2020, but it remains to be seen if that is still the plan. Do you think Cyborg is an interesting character? Would you like to see his story explored in a solo film?
