Adria Arjona “Loves” Her MAN OF TOMORROW Costume as the Wonder Woman Secret Gets Harder to Hide
At this point, the mystery surrounding Adria Arjona and her role in Man of Tomorrow is getting pretty funny. The Andor star still can’t reveal who she’s playing in the upcoming DCU movie, but every new interview seems to make Wonder Woman feel like an increasingly obvious answer.
While promoting A24’s Onslaught, Arjona spoke with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and offered a couple of interesting details about joining the DCU. She confirmed that unlike some actors cast in secretive superhero projects, she actually knew exactly which character she was auditioning for.
When Horowitz asked if she knew the identity of the character during the audition process, Arjona simply replied: “Yeah.”
That doesn’t give us much on its own, but things got a lot more entertaining when the conversation turned to her costume.
There were intially reports that Arjona would actually be playing Maxima rather than Diana Prince. But considering Arjona’s profile, the intense physical training she’s been doing for the movie, and all the speculation surrounding her casting, Maxima feels like a convenient distraction from the character everyone expects her to be playing.
When asked about the costume for her mystery role, Arjona said: “I love my costume. Really like my costume. Both great costumes. Both characters [Wonder Woman and Maxima], if you are a fan of the comics. They have great costumes.”
She’s doing her best here, but you can understand why people aren’t buying the Maxima possibility. Arjona also admitted that keeping all of this locked down isn’t exactly one of her strengths.
“I'm sworn to secrecy and I don't like secrets. I hate secrets. I'm so bad at them!”
If Arjona really is playing Wonder Woman, keeping it secret at this point seems pretty ridiculous. The studio still hasn’t officially confirmed her as Diana Prince, but it’s clearly where all the signs are pointing.
Unless DC Studios has pulled off a genuinely impressive misdirect, everyone already knows what the reveal is supposed to be.
We just watched something very similar play out with Sadie Sink and Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Fans had figured out Sink was playing Jean Grey long before the movie arrived, yet Marvel kept the casting officially under wraps until audiences saw it for themselves.
Of course, superhero studios have gotten very comfortable maintaining these secrets even when nobody believes them. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire spent months dodging questions about appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, only for both of their Peter Parkers to show up in the movie.
Maybe DC Studios simply wants Arjona’s first appearance as Wonder Woman to happen on the big screen rather than in a casting announcement. If that’s the plan, Arjona is going to have to keep dancing around these questions for a while longer.
Man of Tomorrow has recently wrapped production and will continue the story of Superman with David Corenswet returning as Kal-El and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. This time, the two will have to join forces against Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
The film is also shaping up to be a major DCU crossover, with Milly Alcock returning as Supergirl and Aaron Pierre appearing as Green Lantern John Stewart. Arjona will be there too, playing a character that DC still expects us to pretend could be anybody.
Man of Tomorrow hits theaters July 9, 2027.
