AGENTS OF SHIELD Writer Rafe Judkins is Writing Tom Holland's UNCHARTED Movie

The feature film adaptation of the video game Uncharted has been on a long road to development. The movie has gone through several writers over the years including Marianne and Cormac Wibberley (National Treasure), Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker), and Joe Carnahan (The A-Team) was the most recent one to write the script for the film. However, it looks like Sony has decided to not go through with his script seeing as how, in an interview with Deadline, Producer Charles Roven recently revealed that Rafe Judkins, “is currently writing the screenplay.” Judkins has written episodes for Agents of SHIELD and my favorite TV series, Chuck, but this seems to be his first movie gig. I think he has the potential to do a great job with this screenplay though, especially since he has quite a bit of wiggle room. Talking about the story they’re going for, Roven mentions:

It actually takes place when Nathan Drake (who’s the lead of that game) and Sully, I guess you’d call him his surrogate father, were much younger. It’s an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game.

This Uncharted movie will star Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake and it's being directed by Shawn Levy. Bryan Cranston is also said to be wanted for a role in the film.

When previously talking about the film, Levy described it as an “Indiana Jones-type franchise” for a new generation of moviegoers. You can read what he had to say about the project here.
