Ahmed Best Would Be Open To Reprising His Role of Jar Jar Binks
Jar Jar Binks was not the best-received character in the Star Wars franchise and the actor who played him, Ahmed Best, got a lot of crap from the fans. The backlash this character received from the fans was of epic proportions and Best was affected by it both emotionally and psychologically. It wasn’t really his fault, though, he was just bringing to life a character created by George Lucas.
It’s been rumored that Jar Jar could return in Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and there was surprisingly a lot of positive feedback in regards to that. The question is, would Ahmed Best come back to reprise the role after everything he went through?
Best recently took to Twitter to say, "I would return as [Jar Jar Binks] but it really depends on the story." So, there you have it! He’s open to the idea of returning.
As for what happened to Jar Jar in the franchise, the Star Wars Aftermath novels, which are set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens explained that Jar Jar had become a street clown on Naboo. The Obi-Wan series would obviously be set before that, though.
When Best appeared at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago last year, he was met with a standing ovation, and he’s now hosting the Disney+ game show Jedi Temple Challenge as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq.
Would you like to see Best reprise his role of Jar Jar Binks in a future project?
