AHSOKA Season 2 Rumor Casts Doubt on Abeloth’s Star Wars Debut

If you walked away from Ahsoka Season 1 feeling mostly satisfied but slightly confused, you weren’t alone. The series leaned hard into deep-cut lore from The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and even the Expanded Universe, leaving casual fans trying to piece together some interesting Force mythology.

Now, with Season 2 on the horizon, a new rumor is pumping the brakes on one of the biggest fan theories out there, and it involves a character many thought was about to make a terrifying entrance.

To understand why this matters, you’ve got to go back to The Clone Wars, where we first met the Mortis Gods, also known as The Ones.

These ancient beings embody the very nature of the Force itself. The Father represents balance, holding together his children, The Daughter of the Light and The Son of the Dark. Their power comes from the Font of Power and the Pool of Knowledge, making them something far beyond your average Force user.

When Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka crossed paths with them, The Father believed Anakin might take his place to maintain balance. That didn’t exactly pan out. The Son killed The Daughter, The Father sacrificed himself to strip his son of immortality, and Anakin ultimately ended the chaos.

Fast forward to Ahsoka, and those threads came roaring back. On Peridea, Baylan Skoll’s journey revealed massive statues of The Ones, including The Father pointing toward a mysterious light. The Son still stands tall, while The Daughter’s statue has crumbled, a visual that seems to suggest the Dark Side may have the upper hand in this distant galaxy.

That imagery sent fans spiraling into speculation, especially about Abeloth. In Expanded Universe lore, she served The Ones and eventually became a twisted maternal figure known as The Mother.

Her attempt to gain immortality by tapping into both the Font and the Pool transformed her into a near-unstoppable Dark Side entity. The Ones had no choice but to imprison her, and many fans became convinced she’s locked away somewhere on Peridea.

That brings us to the latest rumor.

A leaker known as @moraimessenger, who has a decent track record with Ahsoka scoops, claims Abeloth won’t be part of Season 2. According to their report:

"The story I’ve put together from set photos, scene descriptions, and from what we’ve officially been told is one of myth [and] religion. Not some cosmic entity that overcomplicates the story. In fact, I struggle to see anywhere where this character would fit into what I know about the story."

They also added that while nothing is ever completely off the table, they’re confident Abeloth doesn’t fit into the current narrative plans, which is a little disappointing.

But, that lines up with how Dave Filoni tends to approach Star Wars. He loves digging into mythology, but George Lucas himself wasn’t exactly a fan of the Expanded Universe, and Lucasfilm has been selective about what gets pulled into canon.

Even with all the Mortis teases, it sounds like Season 2 might keep things more grounded in myth and symbolism rather than unleashing a full-blown cosmic horror villain.

If you want to look at this from a positive angle, without Abeloth looming over everything, the spotlight can stay on Lars Mikkelsen’s Grand Admiral Thrawn as he makes his long-awaited return to the galaxy. After years of buildup, fans are ready to see Thrawn step into full villain mode and push the story forward in a big way.

Season 2 will also see the return of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll, with David Tennant voicing Huyang.

Ahsoka is expected to hit Disney+ this Fall, and whether it dives deeper into the Mortis mythology or keeps things focused on Thrawn’s rise, it’s shaping up to be a crucial chapter in the future of Star Wars.
