AHSOKA Season 2 Star Eman Esfandi Says Dave Filoni "Went Nuts" With the New Episodes
The wait for Ahsoka Season 2 has been a long one, but if Eman Esfandi is telling the truth about what's coming, fans are going to have plenty to look forward to.
Between lightsaber duels, massive battles, Force mythology, and whatever wild ideas Dave Filoni has cooked up, it sounds like the next chapter is swinging for the fences.
That's welcome news because Ahsoka has become one of the most important projects on Lucasfilm's current slate. Right now, it's the only live action Star Wars series officially in development, while Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord Season 2 stands as the only confirmed canon animated series. It's a surprisingly light lineup for the franchise, making Ahsoka Season 2 feel even more significant.
Of course, fans have also had to be patient. The series was originally expected to arrive sometime in 2026, which already would've marked a three-year gap after the first season. It's now expected to premiere in early 2027, stretching the wait even further.
Esfandi recently attended the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where he's playing MJ's boyfriend in the Marvel film. While walking the red carpet, he was asked by ScreenRant about Ahsoka Season 2, and his response should get fans fired up.
He said: "A lot of action. Fights, battles, explosions, lightsabers, lasers. I’m having a flashback. So, a lot of action, and I think everybody’s gonna love it. Dave [Filoni] went nuts, and all of us were ready to follow suit of our fearless leader, and it’s gonna be a lot of fun."
The comment that Filoni "went nuts" is especially fun. Whether he's referring to massive action sequences, deep dives into Star Wars mythology, or some unexpected story twists, it certainly sounds like Filoni didn't hold anything back while crafting these episodes.
Given his passion for expanding George Lucas' mythology, there's every reason to think Season 2 could get even more ambitious than its predecessor.
There are already plenty of story threads waiting to be picked up after the Season 1 finale. Baylan Skoll's mysterious search for the Mortis Gods remains one of the biggest unanswered questions.
Those ancient Force beings represent balance within the Force itself, and Baylan's journey on Peridea hints at something much larger than anyone expected.
There's also the reveal that Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker. The Season 1 finale ended with Anakin's Force Ghost watching over Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren on Peridea, making it almost certain that storyline will continue when the series returns.
Back in the main galaxy, Grand Admiral Thrawn has finally made it home, setting the stage for what could become one of the New Republic's greatest threats.
Fortunately, Ezra Bridger managed to secretly hitch a ride aboard Thrawn's Star Destroyer, putting one of the galaxy's few remaining Jedi exactly where he's needed most. A showdown between Ezra, Thrawn, and the New Republic is inevitable.
Fans have also been wondering if Ezra's Jedi Master, Kanan Jarrus from Star Wars Rebels, could finally appear in live action. With reports indicating there will be a flashback involving Ezra, the possibility of Kanan showing up is exciting.
Lucasfilm is keeping most of Ahsoka Season 2 under wraps, but it Filoni really did "go nuts," the long wait might end up being worth it.
