AHSOKA Season 2 Star Teases More Fan-Favorite STAR WARS Characters Making Their Live-Action Debut
It looks like Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 has a few more familiar faces waiting to surprise fans, and Eman Esfandi, who plays Ezra Bridger, is teasing the arrival of some beloved characters from the animated side of the galaxy.
During a panel at L.A. Comic Con alongside co-stars Rosario Dawson and Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Esfandi shared some exciting details about the upcoming season, including the return of everyone's favorite troublemaking astromech droid, Chopper.
According to Esfandi, fans can expect a "lot of Chopper" in Season 2, along with "a lot of other well-beloved characters that we get to spend more time with in live-action."
He continued, "I think everyone’s going to be really happy with them. I'm very happy about the new characters we get to spend more time with."
That's a pretty exciting tease, especially considering how many great characters from Star Wars animation still haven't made the jump to live-action. Esfandi didn't reveal any names, but his comments certainly give fans something to speculate about.
The series has already done a great job bringing characters from Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars into live-action. Along with Ahsoka Tano, we've seen Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Grand Admiral Thrawn, and even Huyang, the ancient lightsaber-building droid voiced by David Tennant.
The first season also continued Thrawn's storyline from the third and fourth seasons of Star Wars Rebels, bringing several major storylines from the animated series into the live-action Star Wars universe.
Season 2 will also revisit the Clone Wars era, with the first trailer teasing additional scenes featuring Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker alongside his former Padawan, Ahsoka, affectionately known as "Snips."
While fans can look forward to revisiting familiar characters and moments from the past, the new season will also push the story forward in some interesting ways.
During the same panel, Dawson teased what audiences can expect from the direction of the series, saying, “I think especially the way the series… how it comes together… I think the direction we end up going in leads to some really interesting questions and ideas about what the future holds."
With Thrawn heavily involved, Ezra reunited with his friends, and Ahsoka and Sabine facing their own challenges, there's plenty of story left to explore.
I'm especially curious to see which animated Star Wars characters will appear next. There are still some awesome possibilities out there, and seeing more of these characters brought to life could be one of the coolest parts of the new season.
Ahsoka Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on January 20. Who are you hoping makes the jump from animation to live-action?
