Alan Ritchson Has No Desire To Star in "Marvel Movies Regurgitating Stories We've Seen A Thousand Times"
While Reacher star Alan Ritchson has been campaigning to play Batman for DC Studios, he has no desire or interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The actor explains that he’s bored with what they are doing, saying: "Like everybody else, I sit back and yawn at Marvel movies regurgitating comic book stories that we’ve seen a thousand times because they’re the only way studios feel like they can make money."
He went on to tell GQ: "I want to be a solution; I want to do something about it. So I’m using every bit of leverage that I have to create new, compelling stories. That’s my mission."
He seems to be on that path, and I guess he feels like Batman would be a different experience than Marvel, even though the character’s story continues to be retold over and over again. Whatever James Gunn is cooking for The Brave and the Bold, Ritchson wants in on that.
Batman is obviously a more compelling character for him than any of the Marvel heroes. Maybe he thinks bashing Marvel will help him land that Batman gig, making sure DC knows where his loyalty lies.
Ritchson previously played in the world of DC, as he played Aquaman in Smallville and Hawk in Titans.
The actor is currently shooting Reacher Season 3, but he will next be seen in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which he’s awesome in!
