Alan Ritchson Continues to Talk About Wanting to Play Batman - "I Want to Be Bruce Wayne!"
A lot of fans have been talking about how they’d love to see Reacher star Alan Ritchson take on the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Cinematic Universe.
The actor seems like a great choice and I have no doubt he’d be able to pull it off if he was given the opportunity. Ritchson has previously addressed these rumors, but during a recent interview with THR, he embraced the rumors and shared his desire to play Batman.
He exclaimed: “I would love to play Batman. There, I said it, OK? I’ll shout it from the rooftops! I want to be Bruce Wayne!”
Ritchson went on to talk about what he loves about the superhero: “Here’s the thing about Batman. You know what his superpower is? Intelligence. Dude is the smartest superhero there is. He’s inventive, and he’s got all the gadgets. But he’s super smart.”
He added: “I want to be that guy. And also to have a cave with hyper cars. Sports cars, and awesome motorcycles. … I’m into that stuff.”
When previously commenting on the matter, the actor shared: "The fact that people are interested in me playing Batman is a real honor and privilege. It's one of the first characters I fell in love with as a child: I still remember the big, long pistol coming out of Joker's pants as he goes to shoot down the Batplane.
He continued: "Those iconic moments really resonated with me as a child. For there to even be a conversation or a rumor mill surrounding this role, for me… all I can do is laugh. I just think it’s wild that’s where we are. I would love to. I would absolutely love to [play him]."
I have no idea what James Gunn is thinking in casting his version of Batman in the DCU, but we’ll eventually find out.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold. it being helmed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti, and it will give us a whole new vision of Batman and several other Batman universe characters.
The project is inspired by Grant Morrison's popular Batman comics run, and it will focus on Bruce Wayne's relationship with his biological son, Damian Wayne. Batman: The Brave and the Bold is said to be one of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s favorite projects.
When previously talking about this project, Gunn said: “So this is the introduction of the DCU Batman, Bruce Wayne, and also introducing our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch, assassin murderer, who he unwittingly takes on, who's Batman's actual son that he doesn't know exists for the first eight to 10 years of his life, and he brings into his life and this is a story.”
He added: “It's a very strange sort of father son story about the two of them. And it's based on Grant Morrison's run on the Batman. There's a couple of comic book writers that have been exceptionally influential on our stuff and Grant Morrison and Tom King are probably the two primary ones.”
Would you like to see Ritchson play Batman? Are there any other actors you’d want to see in the role?
