Alicia Vikander Confirmed for BOURNE 5, Drops Out of ASSASSIN'S CREED
Last we heard, Ex Machina star Alicia Vikander was no longer in contention to star opposite Tom Hanks in The Circle because she was debating whether or not to appear in Bourne 5 or Assassin's Creed. Now it appears that the young up-and-coming actress has made her decision: Deadline reports she'll star opposite Matt Damon in Paul Greengrass's still-untitled Bourne 5.
The only other cast member who has been confirmed at this time is Julia Stiles, but with production getting ready to gear up, we should be hearing more shortly. There's no word on who Vikander will play this time around, but I'm glad that Bourne 5 has snagged her because she's an extremely talented actress whose star is certainly on the rise. But Bourne 5's gain is Assassin's Creed's loss, and though Vikander was looking to reunite with Michael Fassbender on that project (the two star in The Place Beyond The Pines director Derek Cianfrance's upcoming film The Light Between Oceans), her Bourne schedule means she has to drop out of the running for that movie.
Vikander is having an incredible year so far. She's already starred in Seventh Son, Ex Machina, and Testament of Youth, and she still has The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Adam Jones, The Danish Girl, Tulip Fever, and The Light Between Oceans on the way.
