ALIEN: ROMULUS Director Teases Hidden Ellen Ripley Easter Eggs in the Film
Alien: Romulus is filled with lots of cool nods to the films that came before, and apparently there are some Easter eggs in it that fans may have missed involving Ellen Ripley.
The movie is set between the events of Alien and Aliens, so Ripley is out floating around in space waiting to be discovered.
Director Fede Álvarez was recently a guest on the ReelBlend Podcast, and while on the show he teased that there are hidden Easter eggs regarding Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley and where she could be during the events of the film.
When asked if Ripley could be worked into the Romulus storyline, the filmmaker said: "I wouldn't say it's impossible because no one knows exactly what happened in all those years that she's been drifting away.
He added: “I cannot say more. I think for legal reasons, I cannot say more. I would say it's not impossible. I think it's totally possible that it could've been a part of this story somehow."
Álvarez then added: "There's a few things that I've hid in that movie that is the answer to this question. It's just very well hidden. But they're kind of hiding in plain sight."
He explained that there are "a few clues" he's "planted in the movie," but "it kind of defeats the whole purpose" if he reveals what they are now.
Well, it looks like I’m going to have to go see the movie again to try and find those clues!
In the film, while scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
The movie stars Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu.
