ALIEN: ROMULUS Has Become the Highest Grossing Horror Movie of All Time in IMAX Theaters
Director Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus just broke a box office record as it is now the highest-grossing horror movie of all time in IMAX theaters with $40 million in ticket sales for IMAX theaters alone.
The film is also currently the highest-grossing horror movie of the year with $101 million domestically and $331 million worldwide. The film is still going strong at the box office with no at-home release announced at this time.
This is a great Alien movie, and it deserves all the love that it’s been getting from fans, audiences, and critics. Hopefully, it stays in theaters a little longer because i want to see it one more time before it leaves.
In Alien: Romulus, “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy, Pacific Rim Uprising) leads the cast alongside Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.
Fede Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues (Evil Dead). Ridley Scott is on board as producer for the film, the first movie in the franchise to be released by Disney.
Alien: Romulus is based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
