ALIEN: ROMULUS Star Reveals The Film's Story is Set Between ALIEN and ALIENS
The star of Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus, Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), has offered some interesting insight into the film’s story. While the movie is going to tell a standalone story not connected to any of the previous Alien films, the timeline of the movie is set between Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens.
During an interview with Variety, the actress said: “It’s supposed to slot in between the first movie and the second movie. They brought the same team from Aliens, the James Cameron film. The same people who built those xenomorphs actually came on and built ours. So getting to see the original design with the original people who have been working on these films for 45-plus years and has been so much of their life has been really incredible.”
Alien: Romulus follows a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
The movie is “unconnected” to the previous films, and the story is set in another corner of the universe. The pitch that Alvarez initially made is said to be a “really good story with a bunch of characters you haven’t seen before.”
I’m looking forward to this movie and I hope that Alvarez delivers a great Alien movie. Ridley Scott loved it, so that’s a plus! He told the director that it was “f–king great.”
The movie also stars Isabela Merced and they are joined by David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu.
Alvarez is directing from his script written by Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott is also a producer on the movie along with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler) for Scott Free, with Brent O’Connor (Bullet Train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) and Tom Moran (The Donut King) serving as executive producers.
