Alison Brie to Play Evil-Lyn in Live-Action MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie
The casting for Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films’ live-action film adaptation of Masters of the Universe continues with the addition of Alison Brie (Community) who is taking on the role of the villain Evil-Lyn.
She joins the previously cast Camila Mendes (Riverdale), who is set to play Teela and Nicholas Galitzine, who will be talking on the role of He-Man.
Evil-Lyn is a sorceress with formidable magical abilities, she’s one of the most trusted and powerful allies of He-Man’s arch-nemesis, Skeletor. It will certainly be interesting to see Brie in this role.
While I’m a fan of Travis Knight as a director, I really hope he knows what he’s doing with this casting because I’m just not sure about it. But, we’ll see. Maybe it will all make sense when we see the actors in their roles.
Knight, who previously directed films such as Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings, is directing from a script written by Chris Butler. David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee worked on the initial draft.
In Masters of the Universe, “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia.
“After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.
“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
I would love nothing more than for Knight to make an epic He-Man movie, but the story and the casting is worrying me. I hope Knight proves me wrong.
Masters of the Universe is being produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films for release exclusively in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.
