BUMBLEBEE Director Travis Knight to Helm Live-Action MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie
The live-action Masters of the Universe movie is currently set up at Amazon MGM Studios and producers are looking to bring on a new director. According to Deadline, Travis Knight is in final negotiations to direct the project. Knight is the talented filmmaker who previously brought us films such as Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee, the best film in the Transformers film franchise.
The report says that Knight’s “deal has not closed and that other elements on the project are still coming together, but all signs are pointing to Knight being the top choice.” With the filmmaker having experience working in both animation and live-action, studio executives “have viewed him as a top Masters of the Universe choice for some time, with sources saying Knight was the only director to give an in-person presentation. That happened last week and ultimately sealed the deal on him getting the offer.”
It was also reported that the script for the movie is being written by Chris Butler from an initial draft written by David Callaham and Aaron & Adam Nee, who were previously attached to direct the film.
It was previously said that the story for the movie would’ve focused on "an orphan named Adam who discovers he is a prince destined to be the savior of a faraway land. He must quickly learn of his power and the importance of saving his true home from an evil force."
There’s no word on what Knight’s pitch for the film was, but I loved the films that he’s made and I think he’s a great choice to direct the film. His involvement would definitely get me excited about this movie because I think he is one of the few filmmakers who will actually do it justice, and make a great movie.
What do you think about Travis Knight possibly directing Masters of the Universe?
